This card is craft made in western Kenya close to the shores of Lake Victoria
It is handmade from water hyacinth, an invasive plant that can engulf as much as 100 acres of Lake Victoria in one week, trapping fishing boats in its thick web of roots. It needs to be removed from the lake.
The design on the card makes use of recycled materials including wire from old fridge compressors, air conditioners etc. Hand made – no two cards can ever be exactly the same.
This is a product of Kisumu Innovation Centre which has grown out of a project originally funded by UK Aid (DFID), but is now self-sufficient. Sales bring environmental benefits and provide sustainable livelihoods for young men and women.
PLEASE NOTE – this card may need a large letter stamp
