Long-time Good Taste super fan Lesley first joined the team as a volunteer and has now stepped up into the role of Sales Assistant. Friendly, organised and incredibly knowledgeable, she’s a real asset to the shop. If there’s a new product on the shelves, you can guarantee Lesley has already tried it – and she’ll be more than happy to share her expert review with you!
How did you get involved with working at Good Taste?
My daughter, Hannah, worked in the shop before going to University and I used to enjoy volunteering with her and Jenny throughout the summer. Jenny then offered me a job in September which has been brilliant ever since!

Why do you think fair trade is important?
If we purchase Fair Trade products we know that the farmers and producer communities receive a fair and reliable income as well as safer working conditions. The Fair trade premium allows investment in businesses and communities. As we know products can cost more and limit the choice of suppliers but I believe at GoodTaste we have the right balance. Jenny and Lucy are always looking for new suppliers and products. If you don’t see something you want ask…….
What is your favourite fair trade product?
I absolutely love our True Origin selection, ranging from jams and marmalades, to nuts and nut butter. Myself and my husband Richard, are addicted to the new cashew nuts – we can’t buy any other sort now!

What do you do when you are not working at the shop?
I enjoy going to the gym and walking our family dog. When I’m not cooking up new meals to try using lots of our Fair Trade products especially the spices, I spend time volunteering at Church. I love spending time in the garden when the weather is nice although this can be challenging!
What do you like most about living in Sheffield?
You get the best of both worlds. Ranging from beautiful countryside walks to lovely spaces where we can appreciate music and culture within the City our theatres and live music venues are fabulous. I’ve lived in Sheffield most of my adult life and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
