Alison is one of our wonderful volunteers and has been a familiar face over the last three years. As well as her friendly and welcoming nature she is also one of the shop’s best customers! She just can’t resist when we get new products in! We’ve asked her a few questions to help you to get to know her a bit more…
What is your favourite fair trade product?
That is difficult because I like so many things in the shop! I just love the Carishea body balm in shea spice it’s really rich and helps moisturise dehydrated skin and makes it really soft and supple – good for ladies with more mature skin who have been through the menopause! I love the Dalit soap as it lathers really well and smells beautiful! I really like the jewellery too – particularly the earrings and necklaces.
What do you enjoy most outside of work?
I like to paint and to do pottery classes. I enjoy meeting friends for coffee and Iove going to church. I go to All Saints Ecclesall and have lots of friends there.
How did you get involved in the shop?
Gillian (vicar’s wife at All Saints) told me that Jenny was looking for volunteers for the shop and I came in to try it and really enjoyed it, so I have been helping since then.
What do you enjoy most about living in Sheffield?
I love going to the Botanical Gardens, browsing the Ecclesall Road charity shops and going to the many coffee shops in Broomhill.
And finally… What is your favourite film?
“Ghost”! But I also really like “An Officer and a Gentleman”
