Meet Saskia

Sports superstar Saskia can be found behind the counter on Wednesdays and Fridays, ready to serve with a smile! A Broomhill native, Saskia combines her hours in the shop with other part term work and many hours training on the running track. We can safely say that she is without the fittest of all our employees!

We thought you might like to know a bit more about Saskia, so here are her responses to our questions.

How did you get involved with working at Good Taste?

I grew up in Broomhill and have always loved the diversity of local shops. We are very lucky to have a massive selection of Fairtrade products and lovely gifts locally available in Good Taste.

I wanted to get involved in spreading the Fairtrade love and the importance of equality and fairness in production and trade.

Why do you think Fairtrade is important?

Companies who are Fairtrade Certified are proactive in setting fair agreements with farmers and producers through guaranteeing minimum prices and providing set funds for community development initiatives. So, you can enjoy the product in the knowledge that you are investing in a fair supply chain!

What is your favourite Fairtrade product?

The shop is filled with many beautiful things… But the Divine chocolate range is true to its name. Particularly the salted caramel and ginger!

What do you do when you are not working in the shop?

I am a piano teacher and athlete. I also write about renewable energy and climate issues.

What do you like most about living in Sheffield?

I love Sheffield’s community and how friendly people are. It often feels like a big village! The Peak District is also a wonderful part of Sheffield’s character.

What do you like doing in your spare time?

I like making music, cooking and running up lots of hills with friends.
