On Tuesday we celebrated two years of fair trading with an evening with Ben Udejiofo and Dan Walker from TASTE where we presented them with this years profits – an amazing £5600!!
Ben told us his exciting plans for our profits, his project this year is to provide a school in Nigeria, whose water is currently provided by an open well, with a new borehole as well as latrines and a WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) workshop which will teach the children about water related diseases and how to avoid them as well basic hygiene practices to keep them healthy.
We presented the cheque for our profits to TASTE Patron and BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker. We gave him a souvenir of his visit to the shop one of our beautiful handmade coconut bowls. We think he liked it!
The event was also attended by Forge Radio, the Sheffield University Student Radio Station who interviewed Jenny, Ben and Dan about the shop and the work of TASTE.

We think the shop has been even better in it’s second year and we owe so much of our success to our wonderful volunteers and of course to you our fabulous customers. Here are some of our highlights….
We’ve expanded our range of products and have some beautiful new scarves, accessories and jewellery.
Richard has continued his apprenticeship with us and is currently completing his level 4 in Digital Marketing for Business as well as developing and growing our social media presence and website.
We had a wonderful eight weeks with Chloe our French Intern who developed our loyalty card and brought her great smile, energy and a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ to the shop!
Jenny was featured in the Sheffield Telegraph talking about some of her favourite things in Sheffield! If you haven’t read it yet, you can read it online here or come in to the shop and see the original!!
We had a fantastic fair trade fortnight and were invited to so many events and have held stalls at lots of churches, craft shows and schools. We love to grow the cause and to take fair trade out to people who cant get into the shop.
It’s been a great year, we have all so enjoyed welcoming new and returning customers into our shop and are looking forward to year three!
